INTERMEDIATE JAVA DEVELOPERS

The successful candidates will be based in the company’s Pretoria office, but for the first two months of employment, they will receive training in the company’s Secunda office. As from the third month candidates will be required to work in Secunda at least one day per week.

WORK DESCRIPTION:

The Java Developer will be involved in developing new functionality (dealt with as projects) as well as maintaining existing systems (part of operational maintenance tasks).

E&I CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

The following position will be for the Cape Town Office
for a limited duration period

E&I CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The construction manager is fully responsible for the management of the E&I construction portion of a project and report to the project manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordination of construction activities and manage construction team and sub-contractors.
  • Formulation of construction method statement.
  • Develop and implement the objectives and responsibilities of the construction team members.
  • Ensure compliance to OHS Act and construction regulations.
  • Developing of safe working procedures.
  • Perform Risk assessments/ Risk management.
  • Manage and ensure compliance to quality requirements during fabrication and construction.
  • Ensure construction progress is effectively monitored or measured and reported.
  • Ensure contractors and sub-contractors submit daily dairy reports.
  • Assist with handover for completion of construction, (EC & IC), E&I Test packs, punch lists and rectification of defects in cooperation with the client and ensure compliance.

EXPERISE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Tertiary construction management or relevant engineering qualification with at least 5 years’ construction experience is preferred.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a recognized trade with at least 10 years’ Petrochemical experience.
  • Electrical trade test certifications or qualification will be advantageous.
  • SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager will be an advantage.
  • Supervisory Management diploma from a reputable institute would be an advantage.
  • Must be very conversant with reading and interpreting of loop drawings, Cable block diagrams, connections schedules, datasheets, P&ID’s and associated instrumentation GA drawings.
  • Must be very conversant with reading and interpreting of single line drawings, schematic drawings, Cable block diagrams, connections schedules, datasheets, P&ID’s and associated electrical GA drawings.
  • Must be conversant with reading and interpreting cable rack and cable routing drawings and electrical and instrument location drawings oordination of construction activities and manage

Learnership in Drawing Office Practice 2020

Qualified candidates are hereby invited to apply for a one year Learnership in Computer Aided Drawing Office Practice.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Mathematics with a minimum of 50%

      (Please note that Maths Literacy will not be accepted)

  • Technical Drawings with a minimum of 50%
  • Physical Science will be an advantage.

Successful candidates need to be available from January 2020. Only candidates between the ages of 19 and 25 will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. MegChem supports local appointments.
